Discount Logic Help

This is where you can set the values that define how a specific discount is applied to an order. You can use 4 different ways to apply a discount:

  1. Coupon Values
  2. Purchase Subtotal
  3. Order Quantity
  4. Measured Value (like weight)

Discount Screen

Coupon Values:
The coupon field allows you to define "coupon numbers" that are entered on the shipping page. You can have as many discount coupons and discount rates as you like. This is a good way to check the effectiveness of your advertising. You could have a separate discount code for each place you have advertising running to see which one is working the best.

Purchase Subtotal:
The purchase subtotal field defines the value of the order subtotal that is required to get the specified discount.

Quantity:
The quantity field defines the total quantity of the order that is required to get the specified discount.

Measured Value:
The measured value field defines the total measured value (weight) that is required to get the specified discount.

BLANK:
The blank field is just a placeholder for the shipping list, it isn't used in discount logic.

Applied Discount:
The applied discount field defines the discount value that is applied to the order totals. This can be a dollar amount or a percent.

Save Logic to Separate File
Using this option will create a Discount file named discount_logic.cgi inside the cgi-bin/log_files directory. This option is recommended for stores which contain a large number of discount files in order to reduce the load time of the qs_main while customers are browsing product pages. This file is then loaded as necessary at checkout.

Example:

Coupon Values  Purchase Subtotal  Qty  Measured Value  BLANK  Applied Discount
12345 1-       5%
54321 1-       10%

If this is what was entered into the list and a user were to enter '12345' as the coupon number they would get a 5% discount on any order with a subtotal of one dollar or more. If they were to enter '54321' as the coupon number they would get a 10% discount on any order with a subtotal of one dollar or more.
